# How to Use Your Avatar in Video Calls

Use your Janus avatar as a webcam in **Zoom**, **Google Meet**, **Discord**, or any video call app. The trick: OBS acts as a bridge, turning your avatar stream into a virtual camera that any app can use.

---

## 1. Start a Session & Open the OBS Wizard

1. Start a session with any avatar.
2. In the lower toolbar, click the **broadcast / OBS button** to open the OBS wizard.

---

## 2. Copy Your OBS Link

The wizard displays a unique URL for your avatar stream. Click **Copy** to copy it to your clipboard.

---

## 3. Add a Browser Source in OBS

1. Open **OBS** (download free from [obsproject.com](https://obsproject.com/) if you don't have it).
2. In the _Sources_ panel, click ➕
3. Select **Browser** from the list.

---

## 4. Paste the URL & Configure

1. In the Browser source settings window, paste the **URL** you copied from Janus.
2. Set the resolution to **1920 × 1080** for the best quality.
3. Click **OK**.

---

## 5. Verify Your Avatar Appears

Wait a moment for the connection — your avatar should now appear in the OBS preview.

---

## 6. Start the Virtual Camera

In OBS, click **Start Virtual Camera** (bottom-right). This creates a new webcam device on your system called **OBS Virtual Camera**.

---

## 7. Select OBS Virtual Camera in Your Video Call

Open your video call app and go to camera/video settings:

- **Zoom** — Settings → Video → Camera → _OBS Virtual Camera_
- **Google Meet** — Settings ⚙️ → Video → Camera → _OBS Virtual Camera_
- **Discord** — User Settings → Voice & Video → Camera → _OBS Virtual Camera_

Your avatar should now appear in the call instead of your regular webcam.

---

## Troubleshooting

- **Black screen in OBS**
Make sure your Janus session is still active and the link hasn't expired. Re-copy the URL from the wizard if needed.

- **Low resolution**
Check that your Browser Source is set to at least 1920 × 1080 in OBS.

- **No audio**
Janus streams video only — use your regular microphone directly in the video call app.

- **Can't find OBS Virtual Camera**
Make sure you clicked **Start Virtual Camera** in OBS. On some systems you may need to restart your video call app after starting the virtual camera for it to appear.

---

## You're Ready!

You can now join any video call using your Janus avatar. Your friends, colleagues, or audience will see your animated character instead of your real webcam feed.
